A native to Arizona, Scott Harkey proudly attended Arizona State University. His time at ASU was spent studying marketing, during which he got a job at a radio station and became one of the youngest people in history to be in media sales.
Scott then began to work extensively in all aspects of the radio world and found success in radio formats extending from Hip Hop to Oldies. Before he embarking in the agency world and after leaving CBS, Scott helped grow a small, local Hispanic billboard company into a regional player in Phoenix and Las Vegas within just two years.
As a partner at Owens Harkey Advertising, Scott is uniquely qualified among advertising agency executives due to his extensive background in media sales, particularly outdoor (billboards) and radio, which are key to local market advertising.
Experience with several Phoenix-based radio stations and national and regionally-owned outdoor companies has given Scott a market-savvy knowledge of rates, inventory, seasonality and placement that provides the very best use of media dollars.
Working with companies like Pepsi, Budweiser, Lowes, Chevrolet, T-Mobile, Major League Baseball and other Fortune 500 companies, Scott understands that 75 to 85 percent of a customer’s advertising budget is spent on media, and only a small portion on creative work.
